Sun Fire™ V880
 The
Sun Fire™ V880 server is ideal for remote offices and
departments, and as a complementary system in data centers.
Powered by SPARC® III technology, this rack-mountable
deskside unit excels in running database, e-commerce, and
enterprise resource planning applications.
This UltraSPARC® processor-based
server is suitable for:
- Internet and database applications e-commerce
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
- Messaging Servers
The Sun Fire� V880 server requires a
minimum configuration of:
- 2 processors and 4 GB of memory (750 -
900MHz UltraSPARC® III)
- The Solaris 8 7/01 Operating Environment
or later, although it is possible to boot from an external
storage array via the network or locally connected storage,
at least one FC-AL backup boot disk is highly recommended.
Specifications:
- 2 to 8 SPARC® III processors.
- A maximum of 32 GB of main memory.
- Integrated Fibre Channel disk subsystem
with optional multipathing to all disks. This subsystem
supports a maximum of twelve, 10,000 RPM 36.4 GB disks for
a total capacity of 437 GB. (72.8 GB drives may also be
used).
- Hot-swap PCI slots, disks, power supplies,
and cooling fan trays.
